It has been a busy first season of skating. So far I’ve competed in 2 USFS competitions, 1 ISI competition, a club recital/exhibition, taken (and passed) 3 sets of tests: USFS Adult Pre-Bronze Moves in the Field and Free Skate; ISI Open Bronze, Figures I; USFS Adult Bronze Moves in the Field and Free Skate. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some talented adult skaters at the competitions which has been super fun! Meanwhile, Jason and I have still been traveling 2+ hours each way twice a week to practice and have my weekly lesson with my brilliant coach. It has been worth it though, I really feel my skating is improving and I love learning new skills and polishing my old skills.
I’ve spent the last couple of weeks developing my first Artistic program. Its to the theme music from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. It was fun designing an asymmetrical dress for it. Here is a picture from the ISI competition, I placed first of 3 in the Artistic event.
It is such a relief to be done with my testing for the year. I wanted to be able to skate at Adult Championships next spring if I so desire and you must be at or above Bronze level USFS. I reached my goal. Now when I practice I can work on anything my heart desires instead of stressing over the testing elements. Its so freeing!
I’m taking turkey week off from skating and then we hope to take a little vacation with Edelweiss shortly after…I’ve earned it ;)
